Discount grocer Aldi announced Wednesday it is acquiring Southern supermarket chains Winn-Dixie and Harveys, drastically increasing the German company’s U.S. footprint.
For Aldi, the acquisition would add approximately 400 locations across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. The deal is expected to close in early 2024, the company said.
